Dubai: Mamatha Poojary to Inaugurate Konkan Bells First Anniversary

Dubai, Oct 19: Konkan Bells, Beltangady Varado association in the UAE are all set to celebrate their first anniversary at Wanderers Club Sharjah on November 9.
Konkan Bells have always strived to do charity work as their main objective and have undertaken many social activities in the past supporting their brethren back home.
The first anniversary will be a sports event with kabbadi and volley ball tournaments for men and at the same time throw ball tournament for men and women, open to all Kannadigas residing in the UAE. The programme which is scheduled to be at Wanderers Club, Sharjah will start at around 7 am and conclude at 6 pm.
India's well-known Kabbadi gold medalist Mamatha Poojary will be the chief guest who will also inaugurate the tournaments being arranged by Konkan Bells. This will be her maiden visit to Dubai.
About Mamatha Poojary
Mamatha Poojary, daughter of Bhoja Poojari and Kitti Poojarthi is a native of Hermunde, Karkala. Though no one in her agricultural background family is connected with sports it is amazing to know that Mamatha has taken up this sport in good spirits to the top level any lady could take it. Overcoming all the difficulties which is part and parcel of village life on an average, inculcating valor attitude in her, Mamatha could make it up to the stage where hundred crore population of India could witness Indian Flag held high in a foreign land. Graduated from Gokarnanatha College, Mangalore in Bachelor of Arts, with the interest in sports, she got an opening with Southern Railway in Hyderabad. Keeping her passion for sports especially Kabbadi, Mamatha achieved several awards and accolades in her career.

- Gold Medal in Third Asian Women Kabbadi Championship held at Madurai, India in 2008
- Gold Medal representing first Asian Beach Sports Kabbadi held at Bali, Indonesia in 2008
- Gold Medal in 16th Asian Games held at Guangzhou, China in 2010
- Gold Medal in 2nd Asian Beach Sports held at Muscat, Oman in 2011
- Gold Medal in 1st Women World Cup held at Patna, Bihar in the year 2012
- Gold Medal in 3rd Asian Beach Games held at Hiyang, China in the year 2012
The sports event planned by Konkan Bells will have many teams participating sportingly to make their first anniversary a grand event.
