Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (VM)
Beltangady, Oct 18: The family of Sowjanya, the 17-year-old who was found raped and killed near Pangala, Dharmasthala here on October 10, has demanded that the case be handed over to the CoD.
The family members, addressing a press meet here on Wednesday October 17, said that only a probe by the CoD would reveal the truth.
Soujanya’s father, Chandappa Gowda and grandfather Babu Gowda addressed the mediapersons.
They claimed that there have been many cases of rape and murder in the past few months in Dharmasthala, and these cases too should be investigated along with Soujanya’s case.
Santhosh Rao, who has been arrested in connection to the case is not the only accused, it is understood that there were others involved in it, they said.
"To get a clear-cut idea on the case, it should be handed over to the CoD," they urged.
They also asked the officials concerned to take back the cases booked against residents for protesting against the police. "It is wrong to book cases against people for raising their voice against the crime," they said.
Kushalappa Gowda, president of Okkaliga Sangha, Purandar among others were present.
