Dubai: Uswas Cricket Trophy Gets Huge Response, 16 Teams in Race

Dubai, Oct 16: A total number of 16 teams belonging to Mangalore and Udupi diocese are lined up for 'Uswas Trophy - 2012', a 7-over-a-side MRE tennis ball cricket tournament to be held on Friday October 19 at Zabeel Park Cricket Ground, Dubai.
Uswas Trophy is being organized by Uswas-Shirva (UAE), an association of Shirva parishioners residing in the UAE, as part of the decennial year celebrations of Uswas and to promote sports, friendship and unity. A grand Uswas Dashamanotsav will be held on December 30 at Shirva Church open grounds.
The tournament has drawn overwhelming response and attracted many top teams from around the UAE. The organizers had to increase the number of teams to 16 from 12 due to requests from many teams. The first match of the tournament will be played at 7.45 am sharp between Lourdes Kanajar Association Emirates (LKAE) and Bellevision and the final is expected to take place at around 6.15 pm.
The winning team will be awarded Uswas Trophy 2012 sponsored by Ben and Lavisha Quadras-Abu Dhabi with prize money of Dhs 3,333 and the runner-up team will get the Uswas Runner-up Trophy sponsored by Seamark Shipping LLC and prize money of Dhs 2,222.
Man of the match trophy for every match, best batsman of the tournament, best bowler of the tournament and man of the series trophy will be awarded.

Fixtures for Uswas Trophy 2012 were drawn on October 5 at a Karama office, Dubai with captains and representative of teams in attendance. The rules and regulations of the tournament were explained to the teams. The organizers requested the teams to abide by the rules and support the event. It is expected to be a day of fun and excitement. Organizers have requested people to come and watch the matches at the Park ground Gate No. 6.
