Islamabad, Oct 14 (IANS): The condition of Malala Yousafzai, who was critically injured after being shot at by the Taliban, was showing steady improvement, the Pakistani military said.

The 14-year-old girl was now being administered less amount of sedatives, Maj. Gen. Asim Bajwa, director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, was Sunday quoted as saying by Geo News.

"Movement has been witnessed in Malala's hands and legs which is a positive development," Bajwa said.

Malala was shot and seriously injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when she was returning home from school Tuesday. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the shooting that also injured two other girls and sparked outrage across the world and condemnation from world leaders.

Bajwa said doctors have not yet made any decision on taking Malala abroad for treatment.

He, however, said Malala was still on ventilator and it would be premature to say anything with regard to its removal.

The two other girl students, who were wounded along with Malala, were "also being taken care of at places where they can get best treatment", he said, without elaborating.
