Lucknow, Oct 12 (IANS): Paving the way for winter, most parts of Uttar Pradesh are seeing a dip in temperatures, the weather department said Friday.
There has been a distinct nip in the air in the last few days. Statistics show that between Oct 1 and 10, temperatures dropped by three degrees Celsius on an average across the state, an official said.
On Oct 1, the maximum temperature was two notches above normal at 35 degrees Celsius. It came come down to two notches below normal for the season at 30.6 degrees Celsius Oct 10.
Similarly, minimum temperatures, hovering around the 24 degrees Celsius mark in the past fortnight, have now dropped to somewhere between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius, said a met official.
This is two degrees below normal and signals the beginning of the winter nip, which likely to aggravate by month end, the weather official said.
