Panaji, Oct 10 (IANS): Goa Police Wednesday submitted a report to the government describing actions taken by it against massage parlours in the state that indulge in prostitution. Sixty-eight people have been arrested for human trafficking.
The report lists the number of massage parlours against which action was taken by the police over the last six months, and also a proposed plan to stop rampant prostitution which, the police said, happened in the guise of massage parlours, especially in the coastal belt.
"We have submitted to the competent authority a detailed report of massage parlours operating in Goa without proper licences. The Goa Police is committed to fighting prostitution and flesh trade," Superintendent of Police (Crime) O.P. Mishra told reporters here.
"Over the last few months, 27 cases have been registered and 68 people arrested for human trafficking," Mishra said.
