Mangalore, Oct 8: Internal conflicts and differences within the district JD(S) came to light when a chaotic protest was held against the JD(S) district president M B Sadashiva and secretary Vittal Mohammed at the JD(S) office in Bendoorwell here on Monday October 8.
The prime issue was with regard to the invitation to newly-joined members like Nagaraj Shetty to visit the district.
Addressing a meeting called by the JD(S), the party workers' wing Mohammed Rafi said that the district JD(S) is run by only 'three people'.
"Quite some time has passed since Nagaraj Shetty, Soundarya Ramesh and Sureshchandra Shetty joined JD(S), but the president has not even tried to call them to the district office. Hence this work is being done by the workers' wing. The president has even tried to stop us from doing it and has tried to break our wing," he alleged.
"Shashiraj Shetty, a loyal party worker has been thrown out. There is right to speech in JD(S). Also the right to question, but both these rights have been snatched from us. It won't be a surprise if I am thrown out of the party for talking against the president," he added.
Gurpur block president Sudarshan said that he was issued with a notice four months back, as he had questioned the workings of the JD(S) leaders.
At this, the party workers started to shout slogans by holding up placards against the district president and created chaos. They also called for a voluntary walkout on the president.
Susheel Noronha, Vittal Mohammed Kunhi, M G Hegde, Abdul Azeez Malar, D M Aslam, Soundarya Ramesh, Sureshchandra Shetty, Vittal Bhandary Harekala, P A Raheem, Ismail Doddamane, Abdul Majeeed Suralpady and others were present.
