Mumbai, Oct 6 (IANS): A Nigerian woman delivered a baby aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight early Saturday, airport officials said.
Both mother and baby girl are doing well at the Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri East, near the Mumbai International Airport, where they were admitted early Saturday.
The baby was born at around 4.10 am, when Ethiopian Airlines flight No. ET607 reported an on-board medical emergency to the Mumbai International Airport.
The Guangzhou (China)-Addis Ababa flight was diverted on priority to Mumbai. An emergency medical team waited at the airport for the flight to land.
The passenger, Chinyere Okoli, 34, and her baby were rushed to the medical team waiting for them and taken to hospital, officials said.
"After the joyful developments, both mother and child are stable in hospital and doing well," an airport official told IANS.
After safely 'delivering' the woman and child in Mumbai, the flight took off for its destination a couple of hours later.
