Chikmagulur, Oct 4: The Konkani Rakan Sammelan was held on September 23 at  Sakleshpur at 11.30am. It was organised in Chikmagalur and Hassan.

The sammelan was iaugurated by past president Cyril Rebello . The welcome speech was delivered by Gracy D’ Souza and blessings for the new crops (nove benjar in Konkani ) by Fr Vincent D’ Souza.

The guests of honor were past president Cyril Rebello; secretary  Edwin Pinto; vice president Heric D’ Souza ; treasurer Jokhim D’ Souza and  Kiran D’ Souza, Jacintha Tellis , Richard Carlo, Preetham Pathrao, Heric D’ Silva, Norbert Pinto, Jacintha Tellis; reporter Kiran D’ Souza; youth representative Arun Pinto, Rony Pereira, Rakesh Menages, Roseline D’ Souza.

During the program “Konkani Rakan Sanchalan“ gave a scholarship of Rs 25,000/- to IAS student Ronald Robin, Jayapura Parish.

The scholarship was distributed by Pramod Pinto and other scholarships were distributed to 14 students of the different parishes.  It was distributed to two students from every parish.

The past two years programme report submitted by Edwin Pinto, secretary, and Konkani Rakan Sanchalan’s past two years accounts report was submitted by Johkim D’ Souza, tresurer, Konkani Rakhan Sanchalan.

Pramod Pinto, Basrikatte, was elected as new president of Konkani Rakan Sanchalan 2012

Walter Lobo, has elected as new vice president; Sylwester Saldanha, Sakleshpur, was elected as new secretary; Vincent Rodrigues, as new vice secretary; Stany D’ Silva, Chikmagalur, was elected as new treasurer of Konkani Rakan Sanchalan 2012.

Anitha Pais compered the ceremony while Jacintha Tellis delivered the vote of thanks.
