Four More Rape Cases in Haryana

Chandigarh, Oct 4 (IANS): At least four more alleged rape cases, including one of a minor girl and another gang-rape of a newly married woman, have been reported in Haryana in the past 48 hours, police said Wednesday.

A newly-married woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped last month by four men at Banwasa village under Gohana sub-division in Haryana's Sonipat district, 200 km from Chandigarh.

Haryana had seen three gang-rape cases in September and the latest ones have added to that list.

"All the four accused (in the married woman's rape) have been arrested. While Maafi was produced before a court late evening, other accused are being interrogated and will be produced tomorrow," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gohana Yash Pal Khatana said Wednesday.

The victim, who got married three months ago, had gone to her parents' house in Banwasa village Sep 28 when Maafi allegedly told her that her husband was waiting for her at the Gohana railway crossing.

When she went there, she was abducted in a car. She told police that four men raped her repeatedly. She was released by the accused Wednesday, after which she complained to police.

In another incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 45-year-old neighbour in Shastri Nagar locality on the Ladhaut Road in Rohtak, about 70 km from Delhi, Wednesday evening. The victim is a Class 6 student in a government school.

Accused Parkash Singh was booked following the victim's complaint, city police station house officer Rajbir Singh told IANS.

This is the second rape incident in the last 36 hours in Rohtak, hometown of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

A minor, mentally-challenged Dalit girl was raped in Rohtak Monday. The victim, 15, was allegedly lured by three women relatives in Kachchi Garhi Mohalla colony of Rohtak and then raped by a man Monday evening in an abandoned house.

Police have arrested three people, including a woman, while two others are absconding.

In another incident Tuesday, a Dalit woman of Gurthali village near Narwana town in Jind district, 150 km from Chandigarh, was raped by a youth called Dhanwa.

Superintendent of Police Sourabh Singh said that Dhanwa and two others, including a woman, were arrested in this case.

A teenaged Dalit girl was gang-raped by eight youth near Hisar Sep 9. They circulated her MMS clip following which the victim's father committed suicide Sep 18.

In Jind district, a married woman was gang-raped at gun-point at her house in Pillukhera township Sep 21.

This was followed by the gang-rape of another teenaged girl by four youths in Gohana town of Sonipat district last Friday.

I still dont understand, Why no death penalty for rapist. Only 10 years in prison. Law should be changed from 10 years to hang till death. Automatically rape will reduce. We still cannot follow western style rule.

While some Political Parties and the NCW (National Commision for Women)are busy making a big issue out of some silly comments by the Minister of a Rival Political Party, the Rapists are having a free run and the same Woman is getting tortured, burnt, raped and what not,do you people who are protesting on a silly comment think it is more important than protecting the Women from all the atrocities going on.
