Mangalore Dasara from Oct 16


Mangalore: Oct 3 (DHNS) : Kudroli Gokarnanatha Kshetra will celebrate the 22nd Mangalore Dasara from October 16 to October 25 with traditional fervour and grandeur, said Kudroli Gokarnanantha Kshetra Development Committee Member Harikrishna Bantwal.

Addressing media persons, he said Dasara utsav will be observed in a special way this year as it coincides with the centenary celebration of the temple. Dasara celebration will be kicked off with the installation of nine Durga idols and one Sharada idol at Gokarnanatha Kalyana Mantapa on October 16. Brahmakalashotsava programme will be organised for two days on October 19 and 20 as a part of the centenary year of the temple foundation. T

he ‘Horekanike’ (offerings) vehicles will arrive at the temple on October 14 evening in a procession from Nehru Maidan, said Harikrishna.

He also said that various cultural programmes will be organised everyday evening during the ten-day celebrations. The road stretching for about six kilometers in Mangalore City Corporation limits will be illuminated like previous years, but this year with more lightings, he said.

Kshetra Development Committee President Sairam H S and Treasurer Padmaraj R among others were present during the press meet.
