Mangalore, Sep 30: Prerana, an employee runsocial service trust of Infosys Mangalore today organized PratibhaPoshak 2012, an initiative to support academically outstanding students who cannot afford the cost of their education. This is a state-wide initiative, with social service organizations and individuals joining hands to offer financial support to deserving students.
Ascholarship distributionprogram was held at Infosys campus on September 30, 2012 for meritorious students under the aegis of Prerana - Infosys Mangalore,
BevinjeSridharaKakkillayaFoundation, Kasaragod, YakshaganaKalaranga Udupi, Vidyaposhakand Dhrithi Foundation, Mangalore. V K Talithaya, CEO, Primacy Industries was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Talithaya, emphasized on discipline, time management, responsibility towards building a better society for tomorrow and the contribution of individuals
A total of 573 students, including 95 students pursuing professional courses, from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kasaragod, and Uttara Kannada districts, were supported to the tune of Rs. 22,33,272. Out of this Rs. 17,21,047was contributed by Prerana and the remaining fundswere contributed by other donors and Dhrithi Foundation.
Good Samaritans from public who helped Infosys Mangalore employees in recent medical emergencies were honored by Gopi KK, Mangalore Development Centre Head, with Memento, certification of appreciation and a reward for their children’s education.
The event had Niveditha Shetty from Prerana, Dr. Srinivas Kakkillaya from Dhrithi Foundation, BV Kakkillaya from Bevinje Sridhar Kakkillaya Foundation speaking on the occasion. Murali Kadekar from YakshaganaKalarangagave the vote of thanks.
This was followed by an interactive session by Rama Prasad from Infosyson Life Skills, Attitude which was well appreciated by all the students.
This is the 7th year that Prerana and BevinjeSridharaKakkillaya Foundation, YakshaganaKalaranga, Vidyaposhakand Dhrithi Foundationare extending support to meritorious students of Dakshina Kannada district.
