Hyderabad, Sep 30 (IANS): With tension running high in Hyderabad in view of the Telangana march, Andhra Pradesh Police Sunday kept a vigil on the protestors from the skies.

Police chief Dinesh Reddy and other top officials were making an aerial survey of various parts of the city where protestors were fighting pitched battles with police.

Fitted with high resolution cameras, the chopper flew low over Osmania University which turned into a battle zone. The students raised slogans of "Police go back" as the helicopter made a sortie over the campus.

The helicopter also flew over the Necklace Road on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake where hundreds of Telangana protagonists were gathering for the march to press for separate Telangana state.

The Director General of Police was also monitoring the situation at the Chief Minister's Office, teh state assembly and secretariat complexes, and other vital installations where armed policemen and personnel from paramilitary forces were deployed.

Like every year, the DGP and also Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy Saturday made an aerial survey of Ganesha procession.
