Rio de Janeiro, Sep 29 (IANS): Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and British Prime Minister David Cameron have signed six bilateral agreements on economic, cultural and educational matters in Brasilia.
In one of the agreements that was signed Friday, Britain pledges to increase to 10,000 the number of spots available to Brazilian students pursuing study in British universities, reported Xinhua.
The initiative is part of the Brazilian "Science without Frontiers" programme, which has also secured more spots for Brazilian students studying at universities in Canada, the US and other countries.
Partnerships between Brazilian universities and British companies and universities have also been established.
In the economic field, the two leaders agreed to exchange information on taxation.
One of the agreements calls for cooperation in the organization of the 2016 Olympic Games, to be hosted by Rio, in order to incorporate British experience in hosting 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The two Olympic hosts will exchange information on the infrastructure of the games, such as urban transport projects and sports venues.
