Solution to Iran's n-programme Possible: Russia

Moscow, Sep 29 (IANS): Moscow believes that solution regarding the Iranian nuclear programme is possible without military strikes, Xinhua reported.

Speaking during a press conference Friday after meeting a group of diplomats, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow hopes solutions could be found with no military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

The minister also blamed Western sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme for hindering talks between Teheran and world mediators.

He said a number of western countries did not hear Moscow's objections to their sanctions against Iran.

"Unfortunately, they don't hear us or even don't want to hear. But we would like to negotiate," he said.

Russia proposed to hold a meeting in October between Iran and the five world powers -- Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and the US.

Ryabkov said that such talks should be held at the level of political directors.
