Udupi: DCIB Police Catch Drug Peddler Selling Ganja to Students

Udupi, Sep 27: The DCIB police on Tuesday September 26 traced a car near 80 Badagabettu panchayat office here and seized ganja and charas from a man who was waiting to sell them to students.
The man, identified as Mohammed Althaf (32), a resident of Ashoknagar industrial area, Badagabettu, was arrested by the police.
Charas weighing 410 grams and ganja weighing one kg and 100 grams were seized from him, together with Rs 170 in cash and a Maruti 800 car. Altogther, they are worth Rs 1,40,000.
Police said that the accused used to bring charas from Delhi and ganja from Shimoga and secretly sell them to students and other people in various places. On Tuesday, the police recieved information that he would be at Badagabettu, and caught him while he was waiting for his customers near the panchayat office.
Manipal police have registered a case.
Under the direction of Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah, DCIB police inspector Praveen H Nayak, officers Yogindranath, Vaman, Udaya Kunder, Ratnakar, Dinesh Shetty, Ashok Kumar, Rajesh and others conducted the operation.
Earlier on August 29, DCIB police had arrested two for trying to sell ganja to students at Perampally, and a day later on August 30, one more was caught in the act near the city bus stand.
