Kundapur, Sep 26: In a suspected case of suicide, a man was found hanging by a tree at Kadki, Aloor under Nada panchayat here on Wednesday September 26.
The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Ganiga (28), a taxi driver and resident of Aloor. He was an auto driver until a year ago when he switched over to taxi and ran his own Cruizer taxi in Aloor.
He was the son of Krishna and Gulabi Ganiga. The couple have four other children - three sons and a daughter. Yogesh was a bachelor.
Speaking to Daijiworld, panchayat member Praveenkumar Shetty said it seemed rather a case of pre-planned murder than a suicide, as his taxi was found in a damaged state on the other side of the road, and he was found hanging by his trousers. His t-shirt and belt were found flung on the roadside.
Shetty said that he was informed of the incident on phone by Yogesh's brother Dinesh Ganiga. Demanding a proper inquiry into the incident, he surmised that the incident may have occured at around 11 pm on Tuesday September 25 night.
Kundapur DySP Yashoda Shirbur and SI Manjunath along with other police officers visited the spot.
The body has been sent to Manipal for post-mortem.
A case has been registered in Gangolli police station.
