Mangalore: 'Konkani Haso' Emphasizes Importance of Laughter

Mangalore, Sep 22: 'Konkani Haso', a unique programme on laughter by the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy was held here at Lalbagh on Saturday September 22.
The programme was inaugurated by Basti Vaman Shenoy, president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Shakthinagar and Kasargod Chinna, president of the Academy presided.
Dr Edward Nazareth, Konkani writer, Dr B Devdas Pai, registrar, Sabitha Monis, student welfare officer, Alva’s College, Sheshagiri Nayak, senior Konkani theater personality shared the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Edward Nazareth briefed on the importance of laughter. He said laughter is a strong and powerful force which has several positive effects on the body. "It helps one to get rid of stress, lowers blood pressure and has many other health benefits," he added.
"Life is supposed to be fun and we need to allow ourselves to enjoy more often," said Kasargod Chinna, "The Academy has been a laboratory for various experiments, that is, programmes through which it aims to attract Konkani people."
On the occasion Sabitha Monis and Sheshagiri Nayak were felicitated by the dignitaries for their achievements.
Splits of laughter resounded among the audience as Sandhya Shenoy, K Ramananda Kamath and Felix Saldanha entertained them with their jokes.
Rajaram Nayak, member of the academy welcomed the gathering, Dr B Devdas compered and Ashok Shet proposed the vote of thanks.
