Mangalore: Thousands Join in to Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

Mangalore, Sep 21: A grand procession, accompanied by thousands of devotees amidst the beating of drums, was taken out from Omkarnagar, Bunts Hostel here on Friday September 21 as part of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.
The celebrations were organized by Shree Siddhi Vinayaka Foundation in association with Shree Ganeshostava Samithi. The festivities began on September 19.
The Ganesha idol was installed and religious rituals like Ganahoma and offerings by devotees were held.
Prior to the procession, Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes paid a visit to Omkarnagar to seek divine blessings.
Bhajans and traditional dances from over 20 teams were also part of the vibrant procession. Even children dressed in colourful attires marched all along the route.
Ganesha idols have been installed in various places across the city including Nehru Maidan and Pumpwell, where devotees flocked in large numbers and sought blessings.
