Mumbai: Condolence Ceremony to Pay Homage Tribute to Late J B Sequeira

Mumbai, Sep 20: A condolence meeting for poet JB Sequeira who passed away recently due to heart attack in Australia at the age of 75, was conducted by the Konkani Basha Mandal Maharashtra here at Athma Darshan hall, Andheri (East) on Wednesday September 19.

A homage tribute was provided for the departed soul of late JB Sequeira who is the beneficiary of several prestigious awards.

Hailing from Pangla in Shirva Shankarpura, he was working and residing in Bandra. His contributions to Konkani literature has been wide spread for the past five decades.

Fr Lawrence Correa, director of Sovadiya house offered mass in honor of late JB Sequeira. Fr Baptist Pais (SVD) was the concelebrant.

A condolence meet was held, presided by John D’Silva, president of Konkani Basha Mandal, Maharashtra. A memorial fund worth Rs one lac was collected in his name and the money will be utilized to honor three great poets, he said.

Lawrence D’Souza, honorary secretary briefed on the life late Sequeira and his contributions as a poet.

Henry Lobo, KBMM honorary president, Albert W D’Souza, vice president, senior writer Shimunje Parari, Vincent Manthias, founder president of Christian chamber of commerce, Pius Vas, judge, Lawrence Coelho of Diwo shared the dais and paid tribute to his portrait.

Leo Fernandes, founder of Maharashtra Konkani Association; Walter D’Souza Kalmadi, president; Benedicta B Rebello, former president; Cyril Castelino Malad, Stany Dais, John G Mendonca, Vincent Castelino, John Weigas; Henry D’Souza, music legend; VD Silva Kanjurmarg; Henry D’Silva Surathkal; lora D’Souza Kalmadi; Lawrence D’Souza, Harry R Sequeira, Suzan L Coelho, Gladis J D’Silva, Philomena H Lobo, Richard Peris among others were present.
