Udupi: Tourism Minister Lays Foundation for Yatri Nivas at Krishna Math

Udupi, Sep 17: Karnataka Tourism Minister Anand Singh on Monday September 17 visited Krishna Math and laid the foundation stone for 'Yathri Nivas', a dormitory for visitors to the Math.
The five-storey building will be built at a cost of Rs 4.5 crores, of which Rs 1.50 crore has already been sanctioned by the tourism department.
He also paid a visit to Heritage Village which he termed as a perfect spot for tourism development.
"Though enough has been spent on Heritage Village the entrance continues to be a problem. Hence, within 15 to 20 days, order will be passed to add 40 cents of government land to the project," he said.
A project to develop Manipalla (Manipal Lake) has also been forwarded and it will be renovated and taken care of as soon as possible, he assured.
G Sathyavathy, director of tourism, Latha Krishna Rao, principal secretary, Anoor Reddy of M D General Lab were present.
Centre to Sanction Rs 50 Crore for Coastal Development: Minister
Karnataka tourism minister Anand Singh also said that Rs 50 crore will be sanctioned to the state by the central government for the development of coastal areas within a month.
He also said that Malpe beach is extremely small for tourists, hence the government will invest Rs 2 crore towards beach development.
He inspected various ongoing development works, including the second phase of the Malpe boat jetty development for which Rs two crore has already been sanctioned. "Another proposal for a separate jetty for St Mary’s Island has been forwarded by MLA Raghupati Bhat," he said.
The central tourism minister said that he had assured sanctioning of Rs 50 crore for the development of coastal areas even during his visit to Bekal Fort earlier. The amount will be utilized to develop the entire coastal belt, including Kaup and Maravante beaches, he said.
