Rome, Sep 16 (IANS): AC Milan suffered a second consecutive home defeat when they lost to Atlanta 1-0 in the Italian Serie A football league.
Luca Cigarini scored the only goal of the Saturday night's game in the 64th minute, and Milan went close enough on numerous occasions, but lacked a cutting edge as a tactically perfect Atalanta side took three points with them on their short trip home, reports Xinhua.
Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri wasn't panicking despite their worst home start in 82-years.
The Rossoneri have lost both their opening San Siro games by 1-0 results, failing to get a single goal against relegation candidates Sampdoria and Atalanta. The only other time this has happened was 1930-31.
"How bad is the situation for Milan? We'll, we've got one more point than at this stage last season," Allegri said.
"Obviously it's not positive to lose this way, but now we have to look ahead to the Champions League so we can take this weight off our shoulders," he said.
Maiden Serie A goals from Egidio Arevalo Rios and Marco Sau saw Palermo and Cagliari draw 1-1 at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.
The Uruguayan scored five minutes before half time to give Palermo the lead, but Sau's reply two minutes from the end meant both sides failed to get the win they were looking for.
The 1-1 draw leaves both island clubs still searching for their first wins of the season after three matches.
