LONDON, Sep 12 (IANS): Thirty-five-year-old Greek midfielder Giorgos Karagounis has joined Fulham on a free transfer, the English Premier League side confirmed.
Karagounis has played for Panathinaikos, Inter Milan, Benfica, before he was released by Panathinaikos as his contract expired earlier this year, which ended his second spell in the Greek giants, reports Xinhua.
"I'm delighted to have signed for Fulham and I am excited by a new challenge in England and the Premier League," said Karagounis, who will be playing for the west London side till the end of the season, here Tuesday.
Karagounis scored the first goal of Euro 2004 in the opening match of the tournament, in which the Greeks shock the world to emerge as champions.
