Mangalore, Sep 11: "The internal fights and issues of BJP have not had any impact on its service towards the people or on the development works, and the party is working perfectly on this front," said district incharge and higher education minister, C T Ravi.
He was speaking after inaugurating development works worth Rs 82 lac funded by the Suvarna Gramodaya scheme in the Haleangady gram panchayat limits on Tuesday September 11.
The state government has initiated works worth Rs 33.53 crore in 34 villages. Eighty percent of the works funded last year have been completed, he said, adding, "Rs 12 crore has been released by the higher education department for the provision of basic facilties like ladies rest room, scientific laboratory and class rooms in some colleges."
A sum of Rs 5 crore has been approved by NABARD and the much-awaited connecting bridge between Haleangady and Sasihithlu will be ready within 15 months, he assured.
"If the earlier government had introduced the Bhagyalaxmi scheme 15 years back, the scheme that the BJP government recently introduced for girl children, by now each lady would have had Rs 1 lac in her hand. The present government has even introduced interest-free loans for farmers and also brought in many other people friendly schemes," he explained.
In his presenditial address, state’s MLAAbhayachandra Jain said that the state had been facing drought in the northern regions and floods in the southern regions. "Due to the impact of the flood in rivers like Shambavi and Nandini, the retaining walls and vented dams have collapsed, effecting the fields and leaving behind a heavy loss in farmlands," he said.
"Relief work is impossible with the small amount of funds beings released by the state for the purpose, and hence the district incharge minister needs to look into this matter seriously and do the needful for the sake of the farmers," said Jain addressing C T Ravi.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Monappa Bhandary, ZP health and education department president Ishwar Kateel, member Asha Ratnakar Suvarna, ZP CEO Dr Vijay Prakash, TP president Bhavya Gangadhar, member Savithri J Suvarna, ZP engineer Satyanarayana Haleangady, panchayath president Santosh Kumar and vice-president Mamatha Mendon were present on the dais.
C T Ravi also inaugurated a layout of 95 plots and 20 houses at a cost of Rs 33.30 crore under the Suvarna Karnataka housing scheme, funded by the Karnataka Housing Board, in Bellare in the Padupanambur gram panchayath limits.
He also Inaugurated a meeting hall built under the Bharat Nirman Rajiv Gandhi Seva Kendra (BNRGSK) in Kemral and Mennabettu gram panchayats, and a concrete road between Guttakadu and Golijaru at a cost of Rs 2 crore in Kinnigoli gram panchayat under the rural road development project.
