Kundapur: Lucky Escape for Many as Bus Narrowly Misses Collision

Kundapur, Sep 10: A woman was injured while many others had a providential escape when a speeding bus missed colliding head-on with an oncoming lorry by a hair's breath, and instead swerved on to the side of the road.
The incident occured at around 2.30 pm on Monday September 10 at Hunsikatte bridge near Koni.
The Durgamba bus which was plying towards Shimoga is said to have been moving at a high speed. When it reached Hunsikatte Bridge near Koni, a lorry appeared from the opposite direction and the bus driver, unable to give enough space to the lorry to pass, swerved to his left and narrowly missed ramming into the lorry.
As the bus came to a sudden halt after skidding off the side of the road, the passengers inside heaved a sigh of relief as everyone except a lady escaped unhurt.
The injured was a admitted to government hospital in Kundapur. She is out of danger.
Both the bus driver and the conductor escaped from the accident spot.
A case is yet to be registered.
