Nouakchott, Sep 6 (IANS/AKI): Mauritania has handed over to Tripoli slain Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's former spy chief after he was arrested for entering the country illegally.
Abdullah al-Senussi, one of the most feared members of Gaddafi's regime, was arrested in March and faced trial in Mauritania for illegally entering the country.
Libya, France and the international criminal court had all vied for his extradition following his arrest.
Senussi's extradition followed a visit to Mauritanian capital Nouakchott by a delegation from Libya which included the defence minister and army chief.
