Goa Flesh Trade: Thai Girls Face Arrest

Panaji, Sep  4 (IBNS): The rescued foreign victims of prostitution in Goa might face arrest for violating visa rules, police said Tuesday, September 4.

In three separate raids last weekend, the local police rescued ten Thailand women from three different spas and arrested the owner Elton Furtado.

The women were on tourist visas and had landed in Goa last month. The investigation teams are verifying whether they were forced into the ‘illegal’ business or they willingly opted for it.

“As per the visa regulations, anyone on tourist visa is not allowed to work. In this case, the girls were employed at the massage parlours. They can be arrested under the Foreigners Registration Act,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar.

The police are also contemplating to cancel the business license of the three spas for violating rules laid down by the local authorities.
