Mangalore, Sep 2: The Accident Relief Scheme for Commercial Vehicle Drivers was launched by Ivan D’Souza, KPCC secretary, here at MACO cooperative society, Balmatta on Saturday September 1.
The programme was jointly organized by Maco cooperative society, city corporation auto drivers association, Janatha auto drivers association and the bus drivers association.
The registration for the scheme will be held for three days. Around 500 members registered on the first day.
To avail the benefits of this scheme the drivers will have to pay a one-time fee of Rs 26 and get them registered. The risk covered under this scheme is Rs 2 lac.
BJ Nagesh, labour officer of the district was the chief guest. Cyril D’Souza, Maco president, Sri Kumar, Ramakrishna Shetty, Michal Patrick Lobo, Sanjeeva Okkaliga, Praveen Chandra Alva, Shekar Deralakatte, Aziz Krishnapur, Suresh Shetty among others were present.
