Mangalore: Brahmashree Narayana Guru Temple Inaugurated at Padil

Mangalore, Aug 31: The Brahmashree Narayana Guru Temple was inaugurated at Shivanagar, Alape, Padil on Friday August 31. The temple was built by the Brahmashree Narayana Guruswamy Seva Samiti, Padil.
The temple was inaugurated by former union minister B Janardhan Poojary, accompanied by other dignitaries.
The programme commenced by traditionally lighting the lamp and invoking god's blessings with a prayer song. Those who assisted in the construction of the new Temple were felicitated on the occasion.
The programme was presided over by legislative assembly deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat.
Addressing the gathering, Janardhan Poojary said that urged the devotees to follow the preachings of Sri Narayana Guru in life.
On the Billawa community he said, "A high number of Billawa youngsters are being misguided, and nowadays, compared to other communities, there are more number of Billawa youths joining anti-social groups and ending up in jail. We need to bring them back to mainstream and give them good support and education."
He further added, "Earlier, widows were not allowed to attend auspicious occasions and conduct rituals in temples. But in Kudroli temple we are trying to bring reforms and change this mindset by allowing widows to participate and conduct rituals. I urge everyone to follow the same."
Sri Surya Narayana Temple, Maroli trustee Damodar Nisarga, N Yogish Bhat and corporator Mohan Padil, who is also the president of Billava Seva Samaj, Garodi, spoke on the occasion and thanked everyone who helped in building the temple and also wished them the very best for their future endeavours.
Bhaskar Kotian welcomed, Dinesh Anchan compered and K Chittaranjan proposed the vote of thanks.
Guru puja was held inside the temple soon after the stage programme. 'Annasantharpane' (food serving) was also held later. Devotees and well-wishers were present in large numbers.
