Panaji, Aug 29 (IBNS): The forms for Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s pet project ‘Ladli Laxmi’ is set to become more accessible as three banks - State Bank of India, Bank of India and HDFC - have been roped-in for distributing the forms from September 1 onwards.
The forms will be sold at various branches of the three banks within the state.
The scheme – BJP’s election promise – was launched last month to prevent female foeticide.
Under the scheme, girls between 18 and 40 years of age, whose marriage has been legally registered with retrospective from April 1, 2012 onwards will be given Rs 1 lakh for marriage expenses.
Similarly, another touted scheme for the housewives will be implemented from October onwards. Parrikar had promised during the campaign in the recently held general assembly elections that housewives will be paid a stipend of Rs 1,000 per month.
