Kabul, Aug 29 (IANS/AKI): The Taliban has said it was not involved in the beheading and shooting of 17 people in Afghanistan, and called the accusation "baseless propaganda".
The Afghan interior ministry and NATO Monday said civilians -- 15 boys and two girls -- where beheaded by the Taliban for dancing and listening to music.
"The mujahedin were not aware of the incident, and we were informed about it through the media," Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said Tuesday.
"I confirm that the incident area is under mujahedin control, but armed locals who were drunk, forced two children to wear women's clothes and dance at a wedding party, and opened fire at each other for unknown reasons," he said.
Reports said some of the boys were armed and tried to fight back and those who were not shot were beheaded.
