New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): The three-day police custody of former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, the key accused in ex-air hostess Geetika Sharma suicide case, ended on Tuesday.
A team of Delhi Police on Monday conducted raids at Kanda's Sirsa residence and farmhouse.
A Delhi court on Saturday remanded him to three-day police custody.
Kanda was produced before the Rohini Court by the police for extension of his custody.
The Delhi Police alleged Kanda did not cooperate with them in the investigation and sought a seven-day extension of his custody.
However, the court granted a three-day extension.
Before entering the court, Kanda said he was being framed as part of a political conspiracy.
"There is a politician behind this. They are out to damage my image. The truth will come out soon," Kanda told reporters.
Kanda, who was sent to police custody for seven days after his arrest on Aug 18, said the media was misled in the case.
Earlier Kanda said he had not been in touch with Geetika for about 45 days prior to her death.
The Delhi Police have registered fresh charges against Kanda under Section 66-A of Information Technology Act.
The charges were slapped against him for allegedly sending false electronic messages that lead to Geetika's harassment.
Pertinently, the police have already charged Kanda with Criminal Intimidation (506), Abetment to Suicide (306) and Criminal Conspiracy (120-B).
