BJP Disrupts Parliament Again

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS): Both houses of parliament were repeatedly adjourned Tuesday as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members persisted with their demand for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation over allocation of coal blocks.

The Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha were first adjourned till 12 noon and then till 2 p.m. as the BJP benches refused to sit down and kept shouting slogans. In the morning, the two houses were adjourned soon after they met.

When similar scenes continued after the house met, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chair P.J. Kurien announced a further adjournment till 2 p.m.

The opposition has been stalling parliament proceedings since last week following a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that suggested a presumptive loss of Rs.1.86 lakh crore ($37 billion) in coal blocks allocations when the ministry was under the prime minister.
