Kolkata, Aug 27 (IBNS): Former President of India, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on Sunday said creative leaders are needed for the future development of the nation.
Kalam said: “The country’s future depend on creative leaders. We need a large number of creative leaders for future empowerment of the country.”
Speaking on leadership, he added: “Creative leaders must have the vision of human empowerment and development. Creative leaders must have two qualities in them- integrity and compassion.”
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was in the city on Sunday to make an address to the members of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) FLO, the women's wing of FICCI.
Speaking about the increasing corruption in the country he said that "we as citizens have to check about this."
As a suggestion, he added that if the young generation makes an effort to stop their earlier generation from being corrupt, "then in near future we can expect our country to be corruption free."
When the former President was asked about the recent move by some politicians to make him the President once again, Kalam said that he enjoys what he does in life.
“Before becoming President, I was a professor as I enjoyed teaching, and then I became President. I enjoy what I do in life and I do it with a vision.”
Ruchika Gupta, the chairperson of FLO Kolkata said: “Listening to and interacting with this great visionary was a humbling and enriching experience for all our members.”
Union Minister of State for Urban Development Saugata Roy, painter Shuvaprasanna and other personalities were present at the occasion.
