Kuwait, Aug 25: To mark the recognition of Konkani’s inclusion into the 8th schedule in the constitution of Indian National languages, Konkani Kullvar, a Konkani Writers' Forum in Kuwait celebrated the 'Konkani Day-2012’ on Friday 24th August 2012 from 6.00 pm onwards at the Indian Community Senior Girls School, Salmiya. The program was inaugurated by Konkani Writers along with Shaan Bondel and Ida D’Silva by lighting ythe traditional lamp. Shaan Bondel and Ida D’Silva welcomed the audience along with introduction of the Konkani Divas.
During the entertainment part of program various songs from Wilfy Rebimbus albums- ‘Aami mog kelo sangeethacho’, ‘Wadyanthlen Kazar’, ‘Maria’, ‘Naach moja Bhangara’ were sung by Konkani’s Golden voice Dream Boy Rony D’Cunha along with Jasmine D’Cunha, Ivan, Prashanth, Marina and Vandana. Little kids Jeswin D’Cunha and Joela Perira mesmerized the audience by their song “Ko ko ko re ko ko Komblo”. Foot tapping dances were provided by local artists. Music for the songs was provided by Konkani’s AR Rehman fame Adrian Gomes along with his sons Alister Gomes and Alston Gomes.
The felicitation part of the program started with welcoming chief guest Fr. Noel Almeida, Sr. Serena, Gratian D’Souza and Gulf Voice of Mangalore Organiser Louis Rodrigues to the stage. Konkani’s Golden voice- Dream Boy Rony D’Cunha was honored on this occasion by the chief guests with Garland, Fruits, Shawl, memento, traditional cap (Mundaas) and Maan-patr. Fr. Noel Almeida and Rony D’Cunha spoke few words addressing to the audience.
As a part of this Celebration, popular/award winning Konkani Drama of Micmax (Late. Michael Maxim D’souza) was presented by Kullvar Rangmanchi, under the direction of award winning writer, director and actor Shaan Bondel and acted by Ida D’Silva (Paladka/Kuwait), Edward D’Souza (Kanajar/Salmiya), Enica D’Souza (Bejai/Farwaniya), Alwyn D’Souza (Cascia/Farwaniya), Avlon D’Souza (Urva/Salmiya), Shaan Bondel and James. The music for drama was provided by Joe D’Souza and stage setting was done by Ronald D’Souza Mulki.
Christine Pinto delivered vote of thanks. The Program was well compered by Ida D’Silva and Shaan Bondel. The program was attended by house full crowd which is a proof of love for Konkani in Kuwait.
