Kundapur, Aug 23: In a bizarre incident, a group of unidentified miscreants barged into Kandlur Government Higher Primary School at around midnight on Wednesday August 22 and went on a rampage throwing things around and creating a mess.
The miscreants broke open the door of the school and threw the books and stationery belonging to the school all over the place.
The Kannada dictionary was found thrown into the toilet, and words not befitting children were written on the blackboards in the classrooms.
Bhaskar Sherigar Maarashi, who has been the president of the school for three years now, told Daijiworld that the incident took place on August 22 night and that the school management has no information about who could be behind the act.
"This is the first time such an incident is happening in this school. Last night, the gate was closed and locked, and yet the miscreants managed to enter," he said, urging the police to take stringent action against the culprits.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Laxman V S Kandlur, a former student of the school termed the incident as 'humiliating'. "The miscreants insulted Kannada, our state language and mother tongue, by throwing Kannada dictionary into the toilet. This is unacceptable," he added.
The incident is a matter of shame and a great insult, as an educational institution has been made a target, said the parent of a student.
The students had to sit under trees as classrooms were in a mess. Classes were also conducted in the open.
A case has been registered in the Kundapur police station.
There is no clue yet about the culprits or their motive. Investigations are on.
