New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS): It was a cloudy day in the national capital Wednesday with minimum temperature a notch below average at 25.2 degrees Celsius. The Met office has forecast rains.
"The sky will remain cloudy and rains are expected later in the day. Some parts of the city may see heavy rains," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30 degrees Celsius.
From 5.30 p.m Tuesday till 8.30 a.m. Wednesday, the city received 28.4 mm of rain, IMD said. Humidity was 86 percent at 8.30 a.m.
Heavy rains Tuesday brought down the maximum temperature to 29.4 degrees Celsius, four notches below average. The minimum temperature recorded was 24.8 degrees Celsius, a notch below average for the season.
IMD said the capital had received a total rainfall of only 272.8 mm this monsoon -- 41 percent less than the average. Monsoon is expected to last in Delhi till Sep 20.
