Mangalore: Young Talents Sizzle at WIT 'Dance Mania' Contest

Mangalore, Aug 21: It was an evening of delectable performances as contestant after contestant presented brilliantly choreographed eye-catching dances. The event was 'Dance Mania', and inter-school, collegiate dance contest organized by Western Institute of Technology (WIT) in association with Sizzling Guys Dance Studio at Town Hall here on Monday August 20.
The contest was juddged by Kishore Aman of Dance India Dance fame and Shameem Mathew.
Among the many teams that displayed their skills on stage, Deepti and team walked away with the top honours in group category and Kaushik triumphed in the solo category.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Stephen Mendes, Srikar Prabhu, Abhayachandra Jain, Anand K, Jagadish Shetty, Vishwas Das, Shubha Kiran, Kishore Aman and Shameem Mathew.
Speaking after the inauguration, MLA Abhayachandra Jain said that any talent needs constant encouragement to flourish. "Every individual is talented, but needs good support in using that talent to achieve success. In this regard, Western Institute of Technology is doing a commendable job," he said, adding that there are many talents in and around our region who are yet to be recognized.
City unit BJP president Srikar Prabhu lauded WIT for its work and said that he wishes to see the winners of contest going on to scale greater heights and achieve much more in the future.
Anand K of Udayavani Kannada daily said that WIT has been encouraging sports and cultural activities through various programmes and initiatives. "This is a noteworthy achievement. There is always something new in everything that WIT does," he added.
Shwetha and Rahul compered the dance session while Florine Mendes hosted the stage programme.
The crowds that had gathered in large numbers enjoyed every bit of the evening, dancing along with the contestants and cheering them on. All in all, it was truly a memorable event for everyone present.
