Mapusa: EMMAUS’ Course on Healing the Inner Child Inaugurated

Mapusa, Aug 20: “Let us grow in Christ who gives life in abundance. He is the only Counselor who can heal us” said Fr Simon Diniz,principal,Rosary College Navelim

Dr Diniz was delivering a key note address on the theme of the six day non-residential course on Healing the Inner Child for priests and the religious organised by EMMAUS counselling centre of the Carmelite Fathers, Mapusa.  Techniques are good.  We need to go through all the psychotherapies which will help us to know our own self and bring our ego down.” Dr Diniz said further.

 

Referring to the well known psychologists like John B Shaw, Eric Ericson and Eric Berne and others he said that Human beings are very complex. They have a power within us and that power can take human beings to any extreme, so we need to know the background of our behaviour.  Our quest for this remains a human search but techniques like Inner Child will help us to some extent. He highlighted the different issues faced by priests and religious and helped the priests and religious to understand the importance of this course

30 priests and religious are participated in this course.

Fr S S Sahayaraj OFM (Cap), from Anugraha institute of Counselling and Psychology,Dindigul, Tamil Nadu was the resource person .

Fr Diogo Proenca,OCD welcomed the gathering and presented a report of  Emmaus’ programmes. Tina D’cunha, assistant professor, post graduate department of Psychology, St Xavier’s College, Mapusa compeered the programme while Br John Malvino Alfonso OCD, co-ordinator of the course proposed the vote of thanks.
