Train Bombing Attempt Foiled in Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 20 (IANS): Hundreds of lives were saved when an attempt to blow up a passenger train in Pakistan was foiled after the train engineer spotted some suspicious material on the rail track, news reports said Monday.

The Jaffer Express was stopped Sunday near Kolpur railway station in Bolan district of Balochistan, Geo News reported.

The train, on its way to Rawalpindi from Quetta, was about to reach Kolpur, when the engineer spotted the suspicious material.

The driver informed railway officials who later confirmed that a rocket shell filled with explosives was planted beside the track to blow up the approaching train.

A bomb disposal squad reached the scene and defused the explosive.
