Udupi, Aug 19: “While I was a photographer, a creative mind played an important role to capture better pictures, whereas modern technology has enabled to click enhanced pictures today, opined minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He addressed the gathering during the celebration of ‘World Photography Day’ organized by the Udupi Pioneers Photographers' Association (UPPA), here at the Ravindra Mantapa, MGM on Sunday August 19.
“Those days I had an ‘Electro 35’ camera whereas times have changed and today advanced digital cameras have launched which in return showcase better competition”, he added.
He assured that soon a State Photographer’s academy will be formed, and asked the photogrpher’s to pressurize the government to implement it immediately.
Speaking at the occasion, UR Sabhapati former MLA too expressed the need of an academy and a gallery to exhibit photography works.
Highlighting the importance of photography, he added that it helps to recollect memory. In addition, it gives life to the news or any occasion. However, it needs a creative mind.
At the occasion, ‘Thuluva’, journal of Udupi publications was released.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat captured the photographs of Sanjana, lead actress of ‘Mahanadi’ movie to mark the inaugural.
Udupi Block Congress president Pramod Madwaraj, BJP president Uduykumar Shetty, Police Incharge Dr MB Boralingayya was among others present at the occasion.
Senior photojournalist Nagaraj Varamballi was conferred ‘UPPA Puraskar’.
UPPA president Astro Mohan welcomed the gathering and secretary Jayaprakash Kini proposed vote of thanks.
Bengalore Arun Mahendrakar, Astro Mohan and Shivkumar of Selam educated the gathering on photography skills.
