Mangalore, Aug 17: It was a surprise to the commuters near Kadri Park on Independence Day on Wednesday August 15, when a motorcylist vroomed on NH 66 and began performing 'stunts'.
Wheeling is considered dangerous on highway, and the administration does not allow such stunt on the roads. It may be recalled that a few months back a minor boy had caused the death of two persons while doing 'jeep-wheeling'.
Though on Wednesday it looked like entertainment for some, a senior cameraman from Udayavani captured pictures of the bikers.
Udayavani, a leading Kannada daily from the region published a report on the incident with pictures on Thursday August 16. Alerted by the report, police identified one of the bikers as Shabas Khan (21) from Kotekar and arrested him.
East traffic police, Mangalore, speaking to daijiworld said that this is a dangerous trend which could cause accidents on the highway. "Parents must warn their children against such stunts. Police will take strict action on all those who play with vehicles on highway or in city," he said.
The police congratulated the photographer and the newspaper for raising an alert with report and pictures.
Satish Ira, speaking to daijiworld said that after seeing the pictures captured by him, students have stopped doing such stunts.
