Bhatkal: Drug Dealers on Way to Mangalore Nabbed, 7.5 Kg of Ganja Seized

Bhatkal, Aug 16: In a major haul, the officials of the anti-narcotics cell seized 7.5 kg of drugs and arrested two on Wednesday August 15.
The drugs were reportedly being brought from Hyderabad to Kundapur, Udupi and Mangalore via Bhatkal.
The arrested are Mohammed Umahin (42) and Abdul Rehman (53), both residents of Gulma in Bhatkal.
One of them is reportedly the brother of an influential politician in Udupi.
Acting on a tip-off, the officials of the anti-narcotics cell led by CID inspector B S Satish arrested the duo at Bhatkal bus stand on their arrival from Hyderabad. Their plan was to proceed with the drugs to Kundapur, Udupi and then to Mangalore, it is learnt.
The two were later handed over to the Bhatkal police.
The officials recovered 5.45 kg of ganja from Umahin and 2.1 kg of ganja from Rehman, together adding up to Rs 7.5 kg. They also seized Rs 2725 in cash, two mobile phones and other items from the duo.
Bhatkal city and rural police personnel, anti-narcotics official Ashok and others were part of the operation.
