New York, Aug 15 (IBNS): Popular internet search engine Google on Wednesday designed its homepage with a doodle celebrating the 100th birthday of American chef, author, and television personality Julia Child.
One could see Child holding a fork on her hand in the doodle.
The table in front of Child is full of food items like fish, cake and turkey, all kept in a manner representing the word 'Google'.
Child, who was born on August 15, 1912, was recognized for introducing French cuisine to the American public with her debut cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and her subsequent television programs, the most notable of which was The French Chef, which premiered in 1963.
In 1996, Child was ranked 46 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time, online encyclopedia Wikipedia said.
On August 13, 2004, Child died of kidney failure at her retirement community home, Casa Dorinda, in Montecito, two days before her 92nd birthday.
Google decorated its homepage with different doodles during the recently concluded London Olympics where it showcased various kinds of sports events regularly.
From Charlie Chaplin to Marie Curie, Google doodles have not only celebrated the birth anniversaries of great personalities, they have also made internet users know about important dates through the designs and animation.
