Mumbai, Aug 14: The results of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) election which concluded on the Sunday was declared on Monday August 13.

Marline D’sa, congress (I) party’s candidate belonging to ward no 35 (b) and Kanchan Poojary from ward no 35 (b) won the election by majority votes.

The counting was held at Shanthi garden in municipal corporation premises wherein no political party secured a clear chit. There is a possibility that National congress party (NCP) might join hands with Congress (I) and Bhahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) to rule the corporation.

The poll results over 95 seat municipal body were as follows: BJP was the most with 29 seats, Shiv Sena with 14 seats, National congress party (NCP) with 27 seats, Bhahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) with 3 seats, MNS and independent party secured one each.

National congress party candidate Malaika G Baptist, BJP candidates - Kavitha Shetty and Roopa  Rony Pinto, independent party candidates Ganesh Gopal Shetty and Ravikanth S Shetty, NCP candidates Marfi Rebello, all hailing from Tulunadu were disappointed with the results.

Large number of people belonging to different parties and Tulu-Kannada associations gathered during election results. Election winners were congratulated on the occasion leaving behind party woes.

Malaika Gilbert Baptist thanked the supporters, party members and various organizations for their support.

Gilbert Mendonca, a local MLA’s son, two daughters, one brother and a sister, all five belonging to one family have won the election from National congress party.
