Beijing, Aug 7 (IANS): Thirteen people were killed following a rainstorm that battered the city of Shiyan in central China's Hubei Province from Saturday night to Monday morning, authorities said Tuesday.
As many as 725 people were injured, reported Xinhua.
Precipitation surpassing 400 mm triggered floods and landslides in the city, affecting 120,000 households and causing economic losses of 790 million yuan ($124 million), authorities said.
The storm also forced 44,500 residents to relocate and destroyed 4,420 houses.
Traffic on two national highways and four provincial highways was disrupted by rain-triggered floods.
