Mangalore: Devadigara Sangha Assists 370 Students with Scholarships

Mangalore, Aug 5: Karnataka State Devadigara Sangha together with Dubai Devadiga Sangha distributed scholarships to students from SSLC to degree at a formal programme organised by the association at the Devadiga Samaja Bhavan, Mannagudda, here on Sunday August 5.
The programme was presided over by Dinesh Devadiga Kadri, president, Karnataka State Devadigara Sangha.
Harish Sherigar, entrepreneur and president, Devadiga Sangha, Dubai, Dinesh Devadiga, secretary, Devadiga Sangha, Dubai, Moses Jayashekar, vice-president, district educational department, U K Kumarnath, resident editor, Vijaya Karnataka, M Jayaram Prasad, former volunteer of the Sangha, Vaman Maroli, vice-president, Ramachandra Devadiga, secretary, Amruth V Kadri, president, Devadiga youth organization and Veni Maroli, president, Devadiga women's organisation were present on the dais.
As many as 370 students from different educational sections, from SSLC to final year degree, were awarded scholarships.
A portrait of Mannagudda contractor, the late Rama Maistri, who was the founder president of the Sangha and donor of the land for the present Devadiga Bhavan was also unveiled on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Devadiga urged the students to make the right use of the scholarship money. He also asked the students to give back to the society by undertaking social service works in the future.
He also added that Devadiga Sangha, Dubai has organized similar scholarship distribution programmes in the Gulf for the benefit of needy students of the community.
Kumarnath in his address advised the parents to guide their children in the right direction and inculcate the right attitude and morals in them, so that they grow up to be responsible citizens. He urged the parents to make right used of the scholarship fund and help their children succeed in life.
A large number of students and their parents were present.
