Activists Wrong, but Immoral Behaviour should be Checked - Pejawar Swamiji

Udupi, Aug 2: Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math on Wednesday August 1 condemned the July 28 attack on boys and girls at Morning Mist Home Stay at Padil by a group of HJV activists.
"We strongly condemn the attack by the activists who took law into their own hands and assaulted young women," stated a media release from Pejawar Math.
Pejawar Swamiji, however, pointed out that people should also view the incident in another angle. "As per media reports, the residents of Padil said that young boys and girls had been consuming alcohol and dancing obscenely in the home stay for the past several days. Media has reported that illegal activities have been going on in the home stay. Isn't it essential to investigate this matter and find out the truth?" he questioned.
"Is it not the duty of citizens to protest against illegal and immoral activities? There is no doubt that the activists were wrong in taking law into their own hands, but how can immoral activities in home stays be curbed if there is police inaction?"
"Instead of 'gundagiri' hundreds of people must come together and stage a peaceful protest. People should create awareness on the issue. It is not enough that youngsters condemn the incident with strong words, they should also condemn immoral behaviour in equal measure. Media and thinkers are also expected to put in their efforts in this regard," stated Pejawar Swamiji.
