Udupi, Aug 1: BSR Congress chief Sriramulu's 'Swabhimani Sankalpa Yatra' arrived in the city here on Wednesday August 1 evening amid much fanfare.
The road show passed through Kalsanka and a public meeting was held at Chittaranjan Circle here.
Addressing the gathering, Sriramulu condemned the recent attack on partying youngters at a home stay at Mangalore. "The matter could have been reported to the police, rather than activists of a communal outfit taking law into their own hands and attacking the young boys and girl," he said.
"The state administration should appoint a retired judge to probe the incident and take legal action on those responsible for the attack. The police should take precautionary measures across the state, so that such incidents do not recur in the future," Sriramulu said.
"The BJP-led state government has had three chief ministers in four years, but at the same time its leaders have been disregarding honest party workers," he said, citing examples of Halady Srinivas Shetty and Shivappa.
Srimulu further said that he started his journey from Karwar to Ramnagaram in a bid to garner support of the masses for his BSR Congress party, which he hopes will come to power in the state in the next elections.
When mediapersons referred to the cash-for-bail scam involving Gali Janardhana Reddy, Sriramulu declined to comment and said that the issue is still in court.
Sandalwood actress and BSR Congress member Rakshita, party leaders Venkatesh, Mahipal and others were present.
The Yatra, the second in less then two months, will culminate on August 5 at Ramnagaram.
