Mangalore, Jul 31: Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza on Tuesday July 31 condemned the attack on girls and boys who were celebrating a birthday at Morning Mist Home Stay resort at Padil on Saturday July 28.
He said that the atrocities meted out by the attackers are a disgrace to civil society and sought stringent punishment to activists who were responsible for this shameful act of physically assaulting partying boys and girls.
The bishop urged the police department and the state administration to take necessary action in this regard to save the society from such incidents recurring in the future.
It may be recalled that on July 28, a group of around 30 activists belonging to Hindu Janajagarana Vedike barged into Morning Mist Home Stay and beat up boys and girls who were having a birthday party there. The activists had alleged that it was a rave party, but the ADGP on investigation found that nothing illegal had taken place. So far, 15 of the accused have been arrested, of which 12 have been placed in judicial custody till August 13. The issue has become a raging debate over the last few days, inviting protests and demands for action from all quarters.
